Beat the challenges

The state-of-the-art greenhouse that will be used for the Food Hub Project will beat challenges regarding the environment, quality of production, water and energy. The greenhouse overpressure will address plant and biosafety.  Closing the greenhouse environment also reduced evaporation of irrigation water.  Treatment and recycling of condensation, rain, runoff water, and fertilizing nutrients are accomplished through advanced water treatment and ozonation technology. This results in a 66% decrease in water used and 50% decrease in nutrients needed – a significant production efficiency increase and cost reduction.

All workers in the project will be offered the possibility to develop their career in the company by education and vocational training. Courses in foreign languages and social skills will also be provided. Students and graduates from University will be offered the possibility to do research in the Food Hub or they can enter as manager trainee.

The project will encourage cooperation between farmers to create clusters of produce that can be used to complete the Food Hub assortment. The Project will support farmer organizations, education and extension services and facilities to sell produce to export markets. The focus will be put on increasing production, food safety and quality.

The size, location and state-of-the-art technology will guarantee competitiveness of the Food Hub. This will lead to a strong position in target markets like Russia, the Middle East and Africa. The strong position will increase employment and standard of living, which will in the long-term lead to more and incorporated competitiveness of the economy.
