Project Description
(undisclosed) Seed Potato Producer
1.1 hectares. Two thirds of the greenhouse is used for the production of mini tubers. The other third was designed to do resistance tests, partly under quarantine conditions. The complex is fully under climate control, which increases the return of the mini tubers and the success rate of the hybrids enormously. The heat and cold storage under the soil makes it a sustainable way to deal with energy. The project is therefore eligible for the “Energy Innovation Market Introduction” grant.
(undisclosed) Organic Vegetable Producer
With a new building project in ’s-Gravenzande (the Netherlands); The project based on the Conditioned greenhouse- system. This is the first project to use the system for organic cultivation. Furthermore, the energy supply is completely sustainable.
(undisclosed) Tomato Grower
This Tomato grower Wwas the fourth grower in succession to switch to closed cultivation. By almost doubling the size of its premises, the business was able to install a Conditioned greenhouse with an area of 8,500 square meters. This is kept at a constant temperature of around 19 degrees, the ideal temperature for spike formation. With this expansion the business has virtually doubled in size. Conditioned greenhouse is an integrated climate and energy system which, by keeping the windows closed all year round, gives the grower maximum control over the growth factors of air humidity, temperature and CO2. Being able to directly regulate these growth factors enables increased production.
(undisclosed) Tomato Grower
With a new build project this grower switched to use the Conditioned greenhouse-system. He opted for the GeslotenKas® system with outside air utilization for its tomato cultivation with supplemental lighting. Our partner was asked to design the conditioned cultivation system. This customized energy and climate system gives the grower maximum control over the growth factors of air humidity (RH), temperature (T) and CO2. Being able to directly regulate the greenhouse climate generates a production increase of up to 22%. The revolutionary system also functions as a source of energy. The surplus heat is harvested, stored and used when needed. Utilizing this energy allows energy savings of 20-25% over the acreage as a whole. Furthermore, the system makes it possible for Lans to save water, reduce the use of crop protection and cut CO2 emissions considerably.
(undisclosed) Orchid Grower
This Phalaenopsis nursery was a project in the Phalaenopsis branch for which a sustainable cooling concept was developed. The technology is so closely integrated in the total energy concept that all solar heat harvested can be utilized throughout the year. In close cooperation with our installation partner, the entire project was completed in 2008. The installation concept used to cool the greenhouse area of 28,000 m² has been directly derived from the Conditioned greenhouse-concept, with an aquifer, heat pumps, day buffers and air conditioning units with air distribution hoses. This system enables gas savings of around 1,000,000 m3 per year, which is 31% of the total annual gas requirement for the entire acreage of 45,800 m².
